It is nearly the end of March and finally Spring! I am extremely happy that it is Spring and the promise of warm weather is just around the corner! As we all know, with the new season comes Spring weather. That means there are plenty of April showers on the way. In preparation for the long and wet spells, here are some lolita fashion films, or movies with lolita elements, that are perfect for any rainy day!

Beauty and the Beast

This recently released film by Walt Disney Pictures and Mandeville Films is now in theaters! It is a masterpiece. This movie is riddled with beautiful imagery, creative character design, and captivating Rococo-inspired costumes and set designs! The love story between an enchanted prince who, learned to love and the woman who was brave enough to give him a chance, is a tale as old as time with a fresh and artful new telling.

Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette is one of my favorite films! As a fan of history, Marie Antoinette is one of my most adored figures in history. This queen of France made a profound impact on the people of her time and centuries later. Her creative expressions of fashion and extravagance truly fit the lolita style. The unfathomable and stunning costumes and shots of the palace Versailles are beyond astounding! Allow yourself a glimpse into the romance and extravagance of the French Rococo period.

Shimotsuma Monogatari

Shimotsuma Monogatari, also known as Kamikaze Girls, is a truly classic Lolita fashion film. This comedy of a lifestyle lolita who becomes friends with a gangster is truly a remarkable and entertaining adventure. All of Momoko's numerous Baby, the Stars Shine Bright coordinates are beautiful old school style Sweet Lolita. It is enough to cause any Lolita to feel incredibly nostalgic and, with a wardrobe like Momoko's, it is easy to also be a bit envious as well!

Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland is arguably one of the most influential stories to lolita fashion. Her strange and captivating adventures in the imaginative world of Wonderland are impossible not enjoy! There are many renditions of Alice in Wonderland, but my favorites, such as the 1985 release, showcase a young Alice in a delightfully frilly outfit. Any Alice film is best enjoyed with a hot cup of tea and sweets.

The Slipper and the Rose

The Slipper and the Rose is a glorious telling of the classic Cinderella story. This rendition of Cinderella features spectacular Rococo-styled design themes, which is absolutely perfect for Lolita fashion. Every aspect of this film, from the pompadour updo to the extravagant and splendid costumes, are absolutely stunning. The fact that this film is a musical is a welcomed and added bonus! While this is a more classic style film, it is nevertheless a movie that will fulfill your desire for fantasy!

What are some of your favorite movies with a lolita feel? I would love to watch your suggestions!

Stay Frilly,
