I am a sucker for cute key chains and charms! While these pieces can be a cute addition to bags, keys, and cellphones, I wanted to re-purpose a few for new lolita accessories. Out of my collection, I selected three to transform from key chains to new lolita necklaces. You can watch me do so here!

The pieces I chose for this project:

Tools:

  1. Jewelry Pilars
  2. Tarnish-Free Wire
  3. Wire Cutters
  4. Glass Pearl Beads
  5. Jump Rings
  6. Lobster Clasps
  7. Chosen beads for each specific necklace

Merengue Acrylic Charm

This double-sided charm is so cute! I plan to wear this piece with my solid pink JSK and skirt.

Elements to Note:

  • main colors are light pink, pink, and white
  • the charm has multiple bows
  • Merengue has both a sparkle and a heart in her eye and either one would be a great option for the accent beads

I added a little heart charm between the bow bead and the bow from the charm to break it up a bit. The bow was too cute not to keep! The white pearls were a good choice, too. I can't wait to wear it!

There are so many fun charms on this key chain! While they aren't double-sided, there are plenty of details that if the necklace flips it will still be beautiful. I planned to choose just a few to use.

Elements to Note:

  • colors include pink, blue, white, and gold
  • the heart and tag charm are large
  • pearls
  • there are many little details

Unlike the first necklace, I didn't add any additional beads. The pearls were the perfect detail on their own. The larger chain size was perfect for the Eat Me heart! Since the smaller chain is used at the top, it naturally leads your eyes to the statement pieces. The golden heart at the top is a lovely little detail!

Not only is this particular charm double-sided, but it has pretty glitter on each side as well! This necklace will match Magic Princess and many of the solid items in my lolita fashion wardrobe.

Elements to Note:

  • colors include pink, cyan, yellow, white, and silver glitter
  • there are many stars, so I'll use that for my accent bead shape

Finished Design!

The star beads I picked looked too cute together while separated by the glass pearl beads. I like the balance of the larger star beads with the amazing and large pastel charm! I added a little star charm at the end of the charm to help me locate the end and to continue the star theme.

These projects were too fun! I will probably make more necklaces in the future. Do you like to make jewelry? Are there key chains or bag charms in your collection you'd like to transform? Let me know!

Stay Frilly,
