There are many ways that we, as enthusiasts of lolita fashion, can express our love and adoration for the fashion. I take part in numerous activities. These include interactions with online and in-person lolita communities, maintain my lolita blog, and write, illustrate and create lolita styled characters.
In addition to these means of expression, I also dabble in sewing and jewelry making, which comes in handy for accessories I need for lolita coordinates. Now, I make accessories for other lolitas and sell my wears on my online storefront! Since Keep A Fallen Star™ is such an integral piece of my lolita lifestyle, I would love to share what my shop means to me and share my journey with you!
Once Upon A Time
There was a young woman who loved lolita fashion very much. In addition to my co-partnership geekery business, I wanted to create pieces that would complement lolita fashion. After months of my partner and I trying to come up with a perfect name for the business, we finally settled upon the title Keep A Fallen Star. Truthfully, the items I created when we first launched in 2012 were a better fit for the kawaii genre. My original works focused on clay creations of faux confectionery goodies or adorable animals that were made into keychains and cellphone straps. Eventually, I began to branch out and create true lolita complimentary pieces, such as glass pearl beaded crowns with ribbon, hair-pins, hair-clips, and even pierced earrings! Alongside our geekery business, we toured national conventions sharing our wears. College was an excellent time to explore and create new items to share!
Expect the Unexpected
Many times in life we are confronted with the unexpected. We had come face to face with an ultimatum. We had to expand our business or close. This meant we would need to hire employees and office space for our studio or to close the business entirely. We collectively opted to close. We were both moving into full-time careers and we believed the best choice of action would be to close the business. Event years later, we would often come across fans of ours and other artists at conventions. They would eagerly ask the location of our convention booth or what the new domain for our website was. While these burst of positive feedback and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated and noted. These reactions were entirely unexpected.
Happiness is Found at the Best Times
I purchased my first Asian ball-jointed-doll the summer before last. I had designed a completely different character for my new lovely girl but, steadily, I realized she was Hitomi, the mascot for Keep A Fallen Star™. Once Hitomi was in my midst, I found myself designing new additions to my own personal wardrobe and hers. With a stabilized job and some extra allowance, I steadily began to purchase and design new products. Truthfully, with this newfound inspiration, it was only a matter of time before I re-launched my online shop!

Be HonestKnown Your LimitsHave Fun! |
Be honest, especially to yourself. I needed to be honest with myself and admit that I was missing something in my life. I am a creative person, and I need an outlet to express this.
This is certainly not a career for me as it once was. This "hobby" style of business fits in extremely well with my full-time career and physical limitations.
The most important aspect is to be sure you have fun! I love being able to create lovely new designs to share with others, and the process is 100% enjoyable and fun for me!
