International Lolita Day is a special day for the members of our Lolita fashion community. It is a day in which we celebrate this expressive and stunning Japanese fashion. Many Lolitas find this day as a great excuse to wear special coordinates, partake in Lolita friendly activities, or attend Lolita fashion meet-ups. Many times these meet-ups are held in a particularly special place and/or have a theme.
Instead of just one day to officially enjoy Lolita fashion, we have two days a year! International Lolita Day is celebrated on the first Saturday of June and again on the first Saturday of December. Not only do we have two excuses a year to dress our best, but we have two seasons to do so as well! This way, most of the world can participate in a Lolita holiday in a Summer and in the Winter season.
You should enjoy Lolita in whatever way you would like or what is realistic for you. I myself have had a wide range of ways to commemorate this day. On days that I have had to work in the past, I have watched Kamikaze Girls or have purchased from an online Lolita shop. Other times, I have been able to participate in picturesque photos shoots, picnics on a grassy knoll, and high tea events! International Lolita Day is simply an excuse to enjoy the fashion you love and know that there are hundreds of other Lolitas who are celebrating with you in spirit. Feel free to just enjoy the day!
How will you celebrate this International Lolita Day? I would love to know your answers!
My recent wardrobe addition of Sweet Cherry Deer by Souffle Song was automatically my costume inspiration this year. Since the internet poll I had hosted selected Little Red Riding Hood at the clear favorite, I set to work on the overall look. My Halloween Lolita coordinate rundown is as follows:
✓ Sweet Cherry Deer Jumperskirt by Souffle Song
✓ Short Ruffled Ridinghood Style Cape by TeaandTreadle
✓ Blouse by Bunny House
✓ Shoes from Bodyline
✓ Wig from Bodyline
✓ Hair accessory from Sweet Dreamer
✓ Other accessories are off-brand
Between our company Halloween party, a Stranger Things marathon and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, it was one of the best Halloween says yet. I hope you had a fantastic Halloween too!
The Lolita fashion item that I have wanted for the longest is the Ribbon Heart Bag by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright. This is an item that has existed for many of the years that I have been interested in Lolita fashion. This bag, to me, is a timeless addition to a Lolita wardrobe. It's simple heart shape, laced edges, ribbon and elegantly sculpted handles give me such a wave of cute coordinate inspiration and nostalgia. While I would love this bag in any color, the white colorway is my first choice for sure!
There really isn't an excuse for not buying this piece aside from one thing: wardrobe expansion. In my desire to build my wardrobe with all of the necessary Lolita essentials, I have delayed adding this particular item to my collection. Realistically, I still need a few more essentials, such as petticoats, blouses, skirts, dresses and basic bags before I add another adorable shaped purse to my collection. Thankfully, it does not appear that this popular and iconic bag will be discontinued anytime soon!
What Lolita item have you neglected to add to your collection? I would love to hear your answers!
