Angelic Pretty released their Girly Lepoard series to their USA website on October 26th. This use of a leopard print is quite a step for this iconic lolita brand. Here are my initial impressions of the series.
There have been some pretty exciting collaborations with lolita fashion recently! As a lolita who absolutely adores Sailor Moon and magical girls, these announcements have been extremely fun to follow. After all, what could be better than a lovely combination of two favorite hobbies into one?
Here, I will go over my opinion on the releases and provide a possible alternative to these dresses.
Angelic Pretty Collaboration
Angelic Pretty, one of the most popular lolita fashion brands, has teamed up with the Sailor Moon Store to produce two Sailor Moon themed releases. Each release features a one-piece dress and hair accessories. There is a Sailor Moon and a Super Sailor Moon themed set releases to choose from.
The releases themselves are very Sailor Moon inspired. That being said, I believe Tyler from Last Week Lolita News said explained it best. She stated that this release was recycled from Angelic Pretty's Fairy Marine series. Aside from a few color adjustments and additions, there isn't much of a difference between the series. At $286 roughly and the sizing, I am happy to let this opportunity pass me by. Other fans have purchased the releases and that should encourage future collaborations.
Alice and the Pirates
Alice and the Pirates, another well known lolita brand, has created a stunning Princess Serenity themed release. The release features a one-piece dress and two hair accessory options.
The Princess Serenity release is absolutely gorgeous. I love the interpretation and the additives to the original princess design. The gold print on the dress, back bow and the white roses on the sleeves are probably my favorite features. At $630, this stunning lolita collaboration piece can be yours.
Some Other Options
While I will not participate in these recent releases at the current time, I may in the future. I love the fact these collaborations took place and I look forward to future releases. In the meantime, I have some lovely official Sailor Moon dresses by Torrid/Hottopic that I use for some of my everyday wear.
While they are not lolita style dresses, I am really happy with both of them! Each piece is very comfortable. The Sailor Moon dress features the scout's transformation planet symbols and stars on the skirt. The Princess Serenity dress has a beautiful embroidered design of Serenity and her brooch.
What do you Sailor Moon fans think of this collaboration? What would you like to see in the future?
On January 31, 2018, Baby, the Stars Shine Bright announced that, after three and a half years, they will close their New York, New York location in March 2018. To say that this news from one of the most famous Japanese name brands in Lolita fashion is a shock to me would be an understatement.
This is the account of one young woman and her passion for lolita Fashion.
