Forbidden Kingdom Seamstry is a costume shop located in Flagstaff, Arizona. The owner, Miss Momo, has over ten years of sewing and art experience. Her recent release Mermaid Dream Parfum is her first Lolita series. When I stumbled across the release announcement in December, I just had to add one of these pieces to my Lolita wardrobe! I could not pass up this pre-order opportunity.
To say that I am enchanted with this release would be an understatement. I am always on the lookout for Sweet Lolita prints that come in a wide range of sizes, or that offer a custom size option. The rise of such pastel sweet printed dresses with these options have increased I am happy to say!
The print on this release features beautifully illustrated and colorful: sea shells, starfish, pearls, bows, stars, exotic fish and glass perfume bottles. The border print is encased in a gilded gold frame, which makes quite a statement. Each item in this series is offered in ivory, sax, pink or lavender colorway.
The pre-order for Mermaid Dream Parfum opened on January 13, 2018. You are able to pay for your items up front, or Forbidden Kingdom Seamstry does offer a payment plan. You can still get the per-order bonuses too! This is my first payment plan opportunity, so I wanted to take advantage of it.
The pre-order includes:
✓ 20% off the advertised series prices
✓ Exclusive postcard

It was difficult for me to select which colorway to choose. Surprisingly, I was torn between the ivory and the sax colorway. I ended up choosing the sax colorway since it would match more items in my current wardrobe. The sax colorway allows the pearls in the scalloped pattern to be easily seen.
For this release, I ordered the Mermaid Parfum jumperskirt and head bow in sax. Miss Momo explained that I could select a size once the garments were paid, which was a relief! I am currently in-between two sizes, so it would be great to be able to order the smaller size in a few months.
Lovely Lor once said to order items from indie brands when you see them. You never know how long the products will be available and I completely agree with her! This is one of the reasons that I jumped on this release so quickly. I enjoy supporting indie Lolita brands in general! Particularly ones in my own country. Behind every indie brand is a talented designer and artist I wish to support.
What do you think about this series? What aspects of the series do you like best?
Which colorway is your favorite? I would love to read your answers!
