November Challenge: Thankfulness About Lolita Fashion

Thanksgiving is a great time of the year to spend time with friends, family and have enjoy some tasty holiday favorites. This is also the perfect time to take a step back from the day-to-day activities and appreciate the things that we take for granted.

Here are the three major things that I am very thankful for regarding lolita fashion.

Self Expression

Lolita fashion is the way that I am able to express myself in a dramatic way. Each lolita skirt or dress that I adorn lets me show off and convey my love of sweets, dolls, animals and other luxurious things. I love that this is an alternative fashion and that it is elegant, feminine, fun, colorful and frilly.

My favorite aspect of this fashion is that it is just that - a fashion. The modest and unique style reflects me as a person and not a character in a costume. It is a delight to see that, by just being and expressing myself, I can bring a smile to someone's face or a spark of curiosity in their eyes.

Creativity

This fashion fuels my creative side! Each piece provides a great opportunity to create a completely unique outfit. I really enjoy being able to wear my clothes in multiple ways. There are almost limitless possibilities! There is always something new to learn, or something fun and different to try.

Not only am I able to be creative with my lolita fashion coordinates, but lolita is also present in many of my other hobbies! I love creating my own jewelry and accessories for my outfits and for other lolita fashion fans. My favorite art commissions are ones that involve lolita coordinates, and lots of my original stories involve lolita. Even all of my current ball-jointed type dolls wear lolita fashion!

Confidence

I have been painfully shy since I was very young. Once I entered college, I was able to finally begin to play with fashion. Lolita was the perfect fit for me! I am amazed how much I have grown when it comes to my confidence. The change has been incredible and as drastic as Sweet and Gothic Lolita!

The first few times that I went out in public in lolita fashion, all I could focus on where the eyes staring at me. Now, I can comfortably go about my business without distraction. The rare times that I am harassed, I can easily blow of the encounter or make a confident stance. My non-lolita friends and family cannot believe how much I have changed. Additionally, the confess that I am extremely brave for expressing myself this way. To me, this fashion is just me! Who wouldn’t be confident with such a powerful and glamorous fashion style? I consider myself extremely lucky, to be sure.

Stay Frilly~
